Google Conference Scholarship: Fully Funded Travel for APAC Researchers
Google’s Conference Scholarship opens the door for students and researchers across Asia Pacific to share their work at major computer science events without worrying about the cost. It’s designed for academics with big ideas who want to get noticed on a global stage.
What You Get
If you’re selected, Google covers everything. No surprise bills or scrambling for receipts. Registration costs, flights, your hotel it’s all managed by their travel agency. You’ll also get a travel stipend for those unpredictable expenses on the road. This isn’t just about funding; it’s about connecting. You present your research to top industry leaders, network with Google experts, and soak up the latest in tech.
Who Can Apply?
Here’s what Google looks for:
- You’re enrolled full-time at a recognized university somewhere in APAC—Australia, New Zealand, East Asia, India, or Southeast Asia.
- You have a paper accepted for full publication at a leading computer science conference (not workshops).
- You’re the main author and listed as the presenter (oral presentations get preference).
- You aren’t getting travel money from other companies.
How the Application Works
No need to wait for an annual deadline Google reviews applications year-round. Each region has its own portal; pick the one that fits you. Submit your application at least a month before your conference date so everything runs smoothly. If you’re approved, your university gets the funds. Your school handles the reimbursement, using their standard process.
Where’s It Available?
The scholarship covers students at universities in:
- Australia and New Zealand
- East Asia: China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau
- India and Southeast Asia: India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei
How to Apply
Think you’re ready to pitch your work to the world? Here’s what to do:
- Go to the Google Scholarship portal and select your region’s application form (Australia/NZ, East Asia, or India/SE Asia).
- Gather your conference acceptance letter, paper details, and proof you’re enrolled in university.
- Apply early especially if your event is before June 30, 2025.
You can apply for more than one conference in a year, but you’ll probably get funding for just one. For all the details and regional forms, check out the official Google Research Scholarships page.
